The first reports of the strike emerged at 18:07 Jerusalem time from Israeli journalists Moriah Asraf and Doron Kadosh (N13 / Army Radio), who reported the elimination of a Hamas weapons site commander near an aid distribution center. Within minutes, the IDF and Shin Bet officially confirmed the operation, identifying the target as Ismail Abu Ful, and elaborated on his role in bomb and missile production for the terror group. The military stressed that the site’s proximity to a humanitarian facility was further evidence of Hamas’s systematic embedding of terror infrastructure within civilian areas.
The operation extends a pattern of Israeli strikes targeting Hamas’s weapons production and command capabilities during the ceasefire period. As The Zioneer reported in recent weeks, the IDF has eliminated several senior operatives involved in rebuilding terror infrastructure, including Oct. 7 infiltrators and weapons production figures such as Akram Abu Mazi (June 24) and Sameh Abu Kamil (June 28). Earlier this month, the military also killed a senior PIJ production official, Rashid al-Qashi, in southern Gaza. The military has made clear it will not permit the ceasefire to be exploited for military rebuilding and will continue to act against threats.
Hamas has not yet issued an official response to the elimination or to the IDF’s accusations of systematic ceasefire violations. The full extent of the group’s rebuilding efforts during the truce period remains subject to intelligence assessments.
