TL;DR

The IDF provided additional details Friday on the elimination of Yahya Saeed Mohammed Hamdan, the Hamas Nukhba cell leader who infiltrated the Re'im army camp on October 7. The military said Hamdan was killed in a precision airstrike in southern Gaza on Thursday, and had recently been promoting terror plots against Israeli forces and attempting to restore Hamas's operational capabilities.

01 · THE DISPATCH

The IDF on Friday, at 14:09 Jerusalem, provided additional details on the elimination of Hamas Nukhba cell leader Yahya Saeed Mohammed Hamdan, stating that he was actively advancing terror plots against Israeli forces and attempting to restore the organization's operational capabilities. This latest update follows the initial report of the elimination at 13:16 Jerusalem and the confirmation of his identity at 13:29.

At 13:16 Jerusalem, the desk first reported the elimination of a Nukhba commander who infiltrated the Re'im military camp during the October 7 massacre. At 13:20, The Zioneer published an article with the IDF and Shin Bet statement vowing to hunt all perpetrators. By 13:29, the IDF confirmed the identity of the eliminated commander as Yahya Saeed Mohammed Hamdan. The military described him as an immediate threat, noting that he had recently been directing attacks and rebuilding Hamas capabilities.

The IDF has been systematically targeting Oct. 7 perpetrators. As The Zioneer reported on Jun 28, it eliminated Abd al-Rahman Ziyada, a Nukhba commander who looted an IDF vehicle. On Jun 30, it killed Ali Qaid Mohammed Stitan, an Islamic Jihad Nukhba platoon commander who infiltrated on Oct. 7. On Jul 7, it killed Ahmad Yahya Ibrahim Batsh, a Hamas Nukhba cell commander. These operations are part of a broader effort to degrade the Nukhba force, which led the Oct. 7 attacks.

The IDF's statement is the sole source for Hamdan's recent activities; no independent verification is available. It remains unclear to what extent he had restored Hamas's operational capabilities in southern Gaza.
