The IDF released footage Monday evening of the massive Hamas tunnel complex in southern Rafah stretching more than 16 km (10 miles), which the military said it has sealed. The tunnel is the same one where Lt. Hadar Goldin was held after being killed in action and abducted on August 1, 2014, during Operation Protective Edge, as The Zioneer reported earlier Monday.
The IDF on Monday evening published footage of the sealed 16-km (10-mile) Hamas tunnel complex in southern Rafah, confirming earlier reports that the military had completed sealing the vast underground network. The tunnel is the same facility where Lt. Hadar Goldin was held after he was killed in action and abducted on August 1, 2014, during Operation Protective Edge.
As The Zioneer reported earlier Monday (20:38 Jerusalem), engineering troops from the Gaza Division and Southern Command, alongside the Yahalom special forces unit, used over 30,000 cubic meters of concrete to seal the tunnel, which contained roughly 80 living quarters and served as a Hamas Rafah Brigade command center. The newly released footage provides a visual record of the sealing operation.
The video release comes as the IDF continues efforts to dismantle Hamas's subterranean infrastructure in the Gaza Strip. The tunnel's sealing marks a significant milestone in the military's campaign against the tunnel network, which has been a key strategic asset for Hamas.
