N12 reported on Saturday evening that an IDF soldier arrested on suspicion of shooting a Palestinian child has been identified as a 19-year-old resident of the Binyamin region. The soldier, who was on leave at the time, was taken into custody by Judea and Samaria District police and his personal weapon was seized. The incident occurred on Friday in the village of Al-Mughayyir.
The arrest was first reported at 18:39 Jerusalem by Army Radio (N13), which also published documentation of the shooting. Initial reports indicated the soldier was on leave and had traveled to the village with several other Israelis when he allegedly fired his weapon, striking a 9-year-old Palestinian child. The soldier's personal weapon was seized by police.
The arrest follows a series of recent incidents involving Israeli security personnel and Palestinian minors.
