An IDF soldier was lightly wounded in the same operational incident in southern Lebanon where Capt. David Hazut was killed, the military says.
The IDF said Sunday that an additional soldier was lightly wounded in the same operational incident in southern Lebanon in which Capt. David Hazut was killed. The military had earlier announced Hazut's death in a clash with terrorists. The wounded soldier's family has been notified, and the incident remains under investigation.
As The Zioneer reported earlier Sunday, Hazut, a 21-year-old platoon commander in the Golani Brigade's 12th Battalion, was killed in a close-quarters encounter with a Hezbollah operative in the village of Deir Siryan around 02:00. The thread shows the military cleared his name for publication at 12:21, and his funeral in Ashkelon was set for 17:00.
The earlier incidents in the same area include an IDF soldier moderately wounded in an operational accident on Thursday, June 25.
The exact circumstances of the clash remain under investigation. The search for the Hezbollah operative, who fled the scene, is ongoing.
