Reports from Gaza indicate at least six people were killed. The strike comes just minutes after the IDF confirmed a separate operation in the Beit Lahiya area at 18:45 Jerusalem, which eliminated a Hamas company commander and three platoon commanders.
At 18:45 Jerusalem, the IDF confirmed the elimination of a Hamas company commander and three platoon commanders in Beit Lahiya, all of whom participated in the October 7, 2023 massacre. Gaza sources also reported six killed in that strike. The current strike, reported at approximately 19:04 Jerusalem, has not yet yielded confirmed identities of the targeted commanders.
The Zioneer has reported a series of targeted strikes against mid-level Hamas commanders in recent weeks. On June 28, the IDF and Shin Bet killed three Hamas commanders in northern Gaza. On June 22, two Hamas operatives advancing attack plots were eliminated. On June 7, four Islamic Jihad commanders were killed in Gaza City, as The Zioneer reported at the time. These operations are part of the IDF's effort to dismantle Hamas's tactical command structure in northern Gaza and preempt attacks on troops.
The identities of the commanders targeted in the Shati strike have not yet been disclosed, and casualty figures remain unverified beyond initial Gaza reports.
