IDF warns civilians north of Zahrani River, signals imminent Nabatieh encirclement

TL;DR

The IDF Arabic spokesman issued a new evacuation warning urging residents of southern Lebanon to move north of the Zahrani River, in a statement that suggests an impending encirclement of the Nabatieh area. The warning follows overnight airstrikes and is part of a widening IDF operation in southern Lebanon.

01 · THE DISPATCH

At around 10:58 Jerusalem time, the IDF Arabic spokesman issued a new evacuation warning telling residents of southern Lebanon to move north of the Zahrani River. The phrasing — “נעו צפונה מהזהראני” (move north of the Zahrani) — is more precise than previous warnings, signaling that the Nabatieh district is about to be encircled.

This is the latest in a rapid sequence of IDF evacuation orders. At 14:10 Jerusalem on June 12, we first reported a warning for three villages. Minutes later, at 14:10, a second version detailed 20 villages named in the evacuation. That same afternoon at 14:17, the IDF released footage of a Hezbollah operative elimination in Dabin. Earlier in the day, at 10:10 Jerusalem, Israeli media reported 20 villages warned to move north of the Zahrani — their report overlapped with the IDF spokesman’s own list. The warnings follow intensified airstrikes in the Nabatieh area that began overnight.

The Zahrani River line has emerged as the clear boundary for the expanded operation. As The Zioneer reported on June 8, earlier evacuations covered multiple towns in southern Lebanon and the Bekaa and Nabatieh regions, including a specific warning for a northern town. That same day, IDF soldiers found a handwritten note from a Christian resident south Lebanon thanking them for removing Hezbollah, per social media posts and Israeli outlets — suggesting local context for the campaign.

The IDF has not specified a timeline for the ground or aerial push. No immediate reports of large-scale civilian movement have been confirmed from Lebanese sources. The new warning further narrows the focus to the Zahrani line as a pending sealed zone.
