01 · THE DISPATCH

An Israeli airstrike on a jeep in the al-Sabra neighborhood of Gaza City this evening killed Muhammad al-Wahidi, the manager of the Egyptian committee in Gaza and a senior figure in the Fatah movement, according to Palestinian reports. The strike also killed two other individuals, including a man identified as Abu Ali. The operation was first reported at 18:49 Jerusalem time as a strike on a jeep killing two people; within the same hour, Palestinian sources identified al-Wahidi among the dead, initially as the committee's public relations manager, and later as its manager and a senior Fatah figure.

The Zioneer first reported the strike at 18:49 Jerusalem, citing Palestinian sources who said two people were killed when an Israeli military strike hit a jeep in the Sabra neighborhood. Minutes later, sources identified one of the dead as Muhammad Fawaz al-Wahidi, the public relations manager of the Egyptian committee in Gaza. By 18:49 as well, the identification was updated to Muhammad al-Wahidi, the committee's manager and a senior Fatah figure. The third casualty has not been named.

The strike comes amid a series of Israeli targeted operations in Gaza. The Zioneer has reported on the elimination of Islamic Jihad commanders in the same area, as well as a Hamas Rafah crossing police director and a Hamas platoon commander. The Egyptian committee in Gaza, which al-Wahidi managed, has been a key channel for coordination between Palestinian factions and Egypt.

The Israeli military has not commented on the operation or confirmed the identity of the target. The affiliation of the other two killed, including Abu Ali, has not been reported. It remains unclear whether al-Wahidi was the intended target of the strike.
