Throughout the day, additional details emerged: the two suspects, residents of Bat Yam aged 18 and 22, were arrested on suspicion of throwing the grenade while masked and fleeing on a motorcycle. Police said the motive is a criminal dispute. Prosecutors confirmed that indictments will be filed against the two in the coming days. In a separate development, ynet released security footage showing the masked individuals attempting to throw the grenade three times until it exploded. No injuries were reported.
The attack is part of a broader criminal dispute targeting the Japnika restaurant chain across Israel over the past month. As The Zioneer reported, on July 14 explosions occurred at Japnika branches in Netanya and Beersheba; on July 15 a suspected arson attempt damaged a branch in Haifa; and on July 20 a stun grenade was thrown near a residential building in north Tel Aviv, with police investigating a link to the Japnika affair. Earlier today, at 12:06 Jerusalem, it was also reported that two suspects already indicted for the arson of an event hall in Tiberias will face additional charges for throwing a grenade at a Japnika branch.
Further details on the motive and the suspects' identities have not been released by police.
