Two teenagers were wounded in a shooting in Jaffa on Thursday evening, with one listed in critical condition, according to Israeli media reports. Police have not yet released details on the circumstances or a possible motive for the attack. The incident comes amid a surge of gun violence in the city this week, which has already seen two fatal shootings in the area.
Earlier Thursday evening, at around 19:14 Jerusalem, The Zioneer reported that a 17-year-old was killed and another 17-year-old was injured in a separate shooting on Ibn Rushd Street. The death was confirmed at Wolfson Medical Center, and police assessed the background as criminal. That incident followed a fatal shooting of a 16-year-old in Jaffa less than 24 hours prior, as The Zioneer noted. The previous day, a 19-year-old woman was fatally shot in Ramla, with police also citing a criminal background.
In the initial reports of tonight's shooting, the victims were identified as motorcyclists, and later as teenagers aged 15 and 17. Over the course of the evening, the condition of one victim escalated from serious to critical, and finally to critical with the other moderately wounded, according to the dispatch updates. Police have not stated whether the incidents are connected.
As of 21:03 Jerusalem, the motive for tonight's shooting remains unclear, and police have not confirmed any suspects or arrests. The investigation is ongoing.
