IDF Intensifies Strikes on Strategic Ali al-Taher Ridge in Southern Lebanon

Sustained Pressure on the Heights

For the sixth consecutive night, the Ali al-Taher ridge has remained the focal point of Israeli military activity in the Nabatieh sector. Reports from the region indicate that the IAF conducted a series of heavy airstrikes, with some Lebanese channels claiming the use of bunker-buster munitions due to the intensity of ground vibrations felt as far away as Haifa. The bombardment was supplemented by continuous artillery fire directed at the ridge and the surrounding areas between the villages of Arnoun and Kfar Tebnit.

Lebanese sources also reported the use of white phosphorus shells and flares throughout the night. These assets are typically utilized to maintain visibility over the battlefield and suppress movement in the complex terrain of the ridge, which rises to 697 meters and provides a commanding view of the city of Nabatieh.

The Siege of Hezbollah and IRGC Operatives

The intensification of fire follows reports of a tightening blockade around approximately 200 Hezbollah operatives and several officers from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). While the IDF has established surface control over much of the strategic high ground, Hezbollah continues to utilize subterranean infrastructure—some of which was reportedly constructed under Iranian guidance—to maintain a presence. The current strikes appear aimed at preventing any breakout attempts or logistical resupply to the trapped contingent.

Strategic Context and Outlook

The Ali al-Taher ridge is a critical buffer for northern Israel, housing infrastructure designed for cross-border attacks. By maintaining persistent pressure through combined air and artillery assets, the IDF is implementing a strategy of denial, seeking to force the surrender of the remaining operatives. In addition to the activity on the ridge, the IAF reportedly conducted strikes in multiple villages across southern Lebanon, including Al-Mansouri and Al-Qantara, to dismantle tactical infrastructure and prevent reinforcements from reaching the Nabatieh sector.
