A female Israel Prison Service officer was arrested Tuesday morning on suspicion of obstruction of investigation and breach of trust in the Beniahu Razi murder case, according to Yediot News. The arrest follows a covert investigation that raised suspicion the officer, serving at the prison where the brother of fugitive murder suspect Avior Sasson is incarcerated, conducted a romantic relationship with him and assisted in his escape. Initial reports of the arrest emerged around 11:09 Jerusalem, and by 11:17 the suspicion of a romantic relationship was detailed by N12.
As The Zioneer reported earlier today (Tue 11:17 Jerusalem), the covert investigation had already raised the romance suspicion. The manhunt for Avior Sasson, the main suspect in the July murder of Beniahu Razi in a Jerusalem apartment, continues. In recent weeks, police have made multiple arrests in the case, including Sasson's mother, his 15-year-old sister, and other associates. Earlier this month, on July 15, The Zioneer reported that a policewoman was also suspected of obstructing the investigation.
The murder of Beniahu Razi occurred in July in a Jerusalem Airbnb. As The Zioneer reported on July 17, a suspect in the murder, Agam Tsarfi, is an active-duty IDF soldier who had a toxic relationship with the victim. On July 23, police arrested Sasson's 15-year-old sister in a pressure tactic, and on July 27, she denied attempts to pressure her into taking the blame, as The Zioneer reported. The investigation has also involved the arrest of a relative of the main suspect on July 22 and two additional suspects on July 23.
The officer's name has not been released, and the investigation is ongoing. The manhunt for Avior Sasson continues.
