Zaher Brahim Khalil Abu Salem, a Palestinian Islamic Jihad operative who infiltrated Israel on October 7, was killed in a joint IDF-Shin Bet strike in northern Gaza yesterday (Sunday). The military said the operation targeted Abu Salem as he attempted to advance new attacks.
The IDF and the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet) confirmed Monday afternoon that Zaher Brahim Khalil Abu Salem, a Palestinian Islamic Jihad operative who infiltrated Israeli territory during the October 7 massacre, was killed in a precision strike in northern Gaza the previous day.
The military said the strike was carried out after Abu Salem attempted to advance new attacks against Israeli forces and civilians. He had also abducted civilians on October 7 and held them in captivity.
As The Zioneer reported earlier Monday morning (10:37 Jerusalem), the same elimination was first identified by intelligence sources and has now received an on-record confirmation from the IDF and Shin Bet. The official announcement was published jointly by the two agencies today.
Abu Salem is the second Islamic Jihad infiltrator to be publicly confirmed as eliminated this week, following last Wednesday's confirmation of another Oct. 7 infiltrator killed by the IDF.
