The fallen are Maj. Yuval Ezra, 27, a battery commander in the 411th Battalion of the 282nd Artillery Regiment, from Herzliya; and Master Sergeant (res.) Benayahu Mellet, 32, a commander in the Jerusalem Brigade's 8119th Battalion, from Yitzhar. Mellet had served as a regional defense soldier and was a member of the Havat Gilad emergency response team.
The attack was first reported in the morning; as The Zioneer reported at 09:25, MDA confirmed one fatality at the scene. The terrorist, identified as Farouk Adnan Ramchan, the chief sheikh of Tell, was eliminated along with three family members after the shooting. The IDF released the names of the two fallen soldiers at 15:51 Jerusalem time.
Mellet had previously been credited with thwarting a terror plot in 2021 when he identified a suspicious man posing as an IDF soldier near the Eli Junction.
