Israeli special forces operating in Majdal Zoun, southern Lebanon, discovered a strategic underground route containing hundreds of weapons and four launch shafts directed at Israel, the IDF says. The find expands on the tunnel network previously disclosed by reserve troops in the same village.
The IDF disclosed on Sunday evening that special forces troops operating in Majdal Zoun, a village in the western sector of southern Lebanon under 6 km from the border, located a strategic underground route containing hundreds of weapons and four launch shafts aimed at Israel. The military has not released further details but said the discovery was made by special forces units.
The development follows a series of IDF disclosures about Hezbollah infrastructure in Majdal Zoun. On Sunday June 21, just minutes before this report, The Zioneer reported that reserve troops of Brigade 551 had uncovered a tunnel network in the same village — over 200 meters long and 25 meters deep — containing four launch shafts, 12 rooms, and hundreds of weapons, including explosives, anti-tank missiles, and drones. That operation resulted in the killing of over 20 Hezbollah operatives, including more than 10 from the Radwan Force, and the destruction of over 50 terror infrastructures. An earlier thread report at 19:03 Jerusalem described the tunnel as 29 meters deep with the same features.
The village was captured by IDF forces on the ground in early June and has been the scene of continuous clearing operations. The Zioneer has previously reported on weapons caches and a Hezbollah drone factory discovered in the area, as well as the IDF demolishing buildings in Majdal Zoun.
It remains unclear whether the underground route disclosed in this latest report is distinct from the tunnel network previously revealed, or constitutes a further expansion of the same system.
