Russia launched a large-scale combined missile and drone attack overnight Wednesday–Thursday, firing approximately 75 cruise and ballistic missiles at targets in Kyiv and Kyiv Oblast, according to a detailed report. The salvo included Kh-101 cruise missiles, Zircon hypersonic missiles, Kalibr cruise missiles, and Iskander-M ballistic missiles, targeting military enterprises and infrastructure. Ukrainian air defense intercepted at least 38 of the incoming missiles, the report says.
The overnight attack on Kyiv and Kyiv Oblast, first reported by The Zioneer in the early hours of Thursday, is now understood to have involved an estimated 75 cruise and ballistic missiles, according to a detailed assessment published by The Zioneer Intelligence Desk. The strike package included Kh-101 cruise missiles launched from Tu-95MS and Tu-160M strategic bombers, Zircon hypersonic missiles from Kursk and Rostov oblasts, Kalibr cruise missiles from a naval corvette, and Iskander-M ballistic missiles among other munitions. Ukrainian air defense forces intercepted at least 38 of the incoming missiles, the report states. The primary targets were military enterprises in Kyiv and Kyiv Oblast, including the Antonov Aircraft Plant, industrial zones, logistics depots, and an oil depot in Brovary.
Earlier Thursday, at 03:33 Jerusalem time, reporting confirmed the human toll of the attack. i24NEWS reported at least five killed in Kyiv. Minutes later, The Zioneer Intelligence Desk reported six killed, five of them in the capital, with multiple civilian facilities — including residences, a hospital, and a school — damaged. Israeli outlet N12 reported five killed and 23 wounded in the strike. The new detailed report does not update the casualty figure.
The strike is the latest in a series of large-scale Russian combined attacks on Ukrainian population centers. As The Zioneer has reported, Russia has employed similar multi-layered salvos — including missiles and mass drone swarms — to saturate air defenses. A previous attack on July 2 was described as the largest-ever barrage on Kyiv, killing at least 13.
The precise total of missiles launched may be slightly higher than the estimated 75, as detection methods can undercount, the source notes. Damage assessments at the targeted industrial sites have not yet been reported, and casualty figures may still evolve.
