IDF killed Kataeb al-Mujahideen commander who took part in October 7 abduction of Noa Argamani and Avinatan Or

The IDF and security officials confirmed that Kafina, who served as the commander of the Central Camps sector for the Gaza-based terror faction, was killed in a precision airstrike in the southern Gaza Strip earlier this week. According to military reports, Kafina was a direct participant in the raid on the Nova music festival near Re'im, where he took part in the abduction of Argamani and Or. He is also credited by Israeli intelligence with directing the kidnapping of Sudisak Rintalak, a Thai national.

Operational Role and Threat

Beyond his involvement in the initial atrocities of October 7, the IDF stated that Kafina remained an active operational threat until his elimination. He was reportedly responsible for advancing various terror plots against Israeli forces operating in the Gaza Strip and against Israeli civilians. The military characterized him as an "immediate threat" at the time of the strike.

Context of Targeted Eliminations

This operation is part of a sustained Israeli effort to systematically dismantle the command structures of smaller terror factions in Gaza that operated alongside Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) during the October 7 attacks. Kataeb al-Mujahideen, while smaller than the primary factions, has maintained an active role in both the initial infiltration and subsequent combat against the IDF.
