The IDF announced Wednesday that it eliminated Akram Muhammad Mahmoud Abu Mazi, a Hamas military wing terrorist who participated in the October 7 massacre and was recently working to rebuild the organization's terror capabilities. Abu Mazi was killed in a precision airstrike in the southern Gaza Strip on Sunday. In separate developments, the defense establishment confirmed the death of a civilian contractor in Gaza, an operational injury to a soldier in Lebanon, and the elimination of a wanted arms dealer in Judea and Samaria.
The elimination of Akram Muhammad Mahmoud Abu Mazi marks another step in the IDF's systematic targeting of Hamas operatives who breached the Israeli border during the October 7 onslaught. According to the military, Abu Mazi remained an active threat, working in recent weeks to restore Hamas's military infrastructure and advance new attacks against Israeli troops and civilians. The strike, which took place this past Sunday in the southern Gaza Strip, was carried out following intelligence gathering that identified Abu Mazi's role in the group's rebuilding efforts. The IDF released a photograph documenting Abu Mazi on the morning of October 7 as he was departing to infiltrate Israeli territory.
Fatal Accident and Regional Security Incidents
Separately, the Ministry of Defense confirmed the death of Raad Abu al-Qi'an, a civilian contractor from Hura. Abu al-Qi'an was killed today while operating heavy machinery during engineering and demolition work in the Gaza Strip when a structure collapsed on him. In southern Lebanon, an IDF soldier was moderately wounded in an operational accident and evacuated for medical treatment. Additionally, the IAF struck a vehicle carrying suspects that crossed into the Israeli security zone in the Ali al-Taher Ridge area, removing what the military described as an immediate threat.
Counter-Terrorism in Judea and Samaria
In a joint operation between the IDF and the Shin Bet, security forces eliminated Mohamed Zayed in the Yamun area of Judea and Samaria. Zayed was a known arms dealer who supplied weapons for a 2025 shooting attack that severely wounded two IDF soldiers. He was killed while attempting to flee during an arrest operation. These incidents underscore the ongoing high-intensity multi-front conflict as the IDF continues to dismantle terror networks while maintaining operational readiness across all sectors.
