During a visit to the 401st Armored Brigade in southern Lebanon on Sunday, Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. He saluted the brigade's resilience after heavy losses sustained throughout the war.
Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir visited the 401st Armored Brigade in southern Lebanon on Sunday afternoon, continuing a series of command tours since the conditional ceasefire with Hezbollah took partial effect. In remarks to brigade commanders, Zamir called the ceasefire 'fragile' and stressed the need for high readiness for renewed combat, adding that all IDF resources are allocated for this purpose.
Alongside preparations for a return to operations, Zamir praised the 401st Brigade's resilience after heavy losses sustained during the war, including the deaths of its former commander Col. Ahmad Abu al-Jabbar in northern Gaza in May 2025 and two subsequent battalion commanders in southern Lebanon. 'The brigade proves strength and resilience in the face of the losses it has suffered in its soldiers and its command echelon,' he said. 'You cannot stop the 401st Brigade.'
The visit builds on earlier statements by Zamir and other commanders that IDF forces maintain full freedom of action across southern Lebanon. Operations continue in the areas of Ali Taher and Beaufort Castle, which the military identifies as former Hezbollah central command centers. As The Zioneer reported on June 19, troops are actively demolishing major tunnel systems there.
