The IDF released the names of all five soldiers killed over the weekend in southern Lebanon: Staff Sgt. Naveh Havshush, Lt. Col. Dor Gedalia Ben Simhon, Staff Sgt. Yoav Klein, Staff Sgt. Liav Kababia, and Staff Sgt. Nir Ben Ari. The fallen include the commander of the 52nd Battalion and soldiers from the 401st Armored Brigade and Maglan commando unit.
The IDF cleared for publication Sunday morning the names of all five soldiers killed in heavy combat in southern Lebanon over the weekend. The fallen are Staff Sgt. Naveh Havshush, 20, of Geva Binyamin, a tank commander in the 52nd Battalion, 401st Armored Brigade; Lt. Col. Dor Gedalia Ben Simhon, the battalion commander who took command after his predecessor was severely wounded; Staff Sgt. Yoav Klein, 21, an armor soldier in the same battalion; Staff Sgt. Liav Kababia, also of the 52nd Battalion; and Staff Sgt. Nir Ben Ari, 21, a Maglan commando fighter.
As The Zioneer reported earlier, the five fell in two separate incidents: the tank incident involving the 52nd Battalion, and a separate commando operation in which Ben Ari was killed. Funerals for Havshush and Klein were held Sunday. The IDF continues to investigate the circumstances. The fighting in southern Lebanon has exacted a heavy toll on the 401st Armored Brigade, with a battalion commander among the dead.
The military has not released further details on the exact circumstances of each incident. The names were published after families were notified.
