Friday morning's attack near the village of Tell in Samaria began when a group of Israeli hikers, including children, were confronted by dozens of Palestinians from the village. The security coordinator of Havat Gilad arrived and attempted to de-escalate, but the mob snatched his weapon. A terrorist then fired, killing Binyahu Melat and wounding at least three others, two seriously. The IDF stated that troops eliminated the terrorist immediately after the attack and recovered the stolen weapon.
