The city of Herzliya announced the death of Staff Sgt. Yoav Klein, an armor soldier in the 52nd Battalion, 401st Armored Brigade, who fell in battle in southern Lebanon on Friday. Klein, a graduate of the Yovel high school and a talented basketball player, leaves behind his parents Einat and Eran and siblings Ido and Tamar. Funeral details will be published later.
Herzliya municipality has released the personal background and family details of Staff Sgt. Yoav Klein, an armor soldier killed in combat in southern Lebanon, following his identification by the IDF earlier this evening.
At 20:44 Jerusalem, the IDF cleared Klein's name for publication, initially alongside Maglan fighter Staff Sgt. Nir Ben Ari. Within the same disclosure, the military confirmed Klein was one of four tank crew members killed in the incident — a tank hit by Hezbollah fire, apparently an explosive drone with an anti-tank warhead — and that two other crew members remain unidentified. Earlier on Saturday, the IDF had acknowledged the incident that killed Ben Ari and severely wounded two other soldiers and a combat officer, without specifying the location.
As the Zioneer reported on Friday, June 19, the Ben-Gurion school in Herzliya had earlier announced the death of alumnus Yoav Klein during operational activity in Lebanon, before formal IDF clearance. The city described Klein as a graduate of Yovel high school and a talented basketball player who volunteered for combat duty. He leaves behind his parents Einat and Eran and siblings Ido and Tamar.
Funeral arrangements have not yet been set. The names of the two remaining tank crew members killed in the incident have not been cleared for publication.
